SYMBOLS

I generally use found subject matter, newspapers,Xeroxed images, universal packaging & design symbols- or recently Buddhist symbols. These are the templates around which I - 'paint & decorate.' The ordinary symbolic source material, is transformed by this process. I apply acrylic, watercolour or gouache, whichever seems appropriate. Occasionally, I create a relief by using string, cheap jewels, anything that can successfully be stuck on! I use a square format, because I'm fascinated by how differing coloured layers of circles and squares interact.
